SPECS

PROPELLER POWERED BIG BRAIN SPECIFICATIONS
Big Brain Specifications include development details and features including Parallax Propeller chips, enhancements and machine parts made from chips. It also includes add-ons and expansions with other parts as noted. As the Big Brain is "years in development" — ongoing for over 10 years, it continues to evolve, therefore these specs are subject to updates and may change without notice.

UPDATES
Things are moving so quickly it has become a challenge to maintain updates to this page, however we will do our best to add material from time to time. The Big Brain is always in flux, always changing, improving, trying new things and creating new inventive qualities.

Assembly Time
The Big Brain Project began in 2002 with the construction of
Precursor Machines, built over a 10 year period. Initial Big Brain final assembly took 1.5 years as construction progressed from August 6th, 2010 to current date. The Big Brain was initially a ten year project and is currently ongoing. It's development is now divided into decade time periods of development.

Conducting its own projects..

Speed
Exceeding one trillion floating point operations per second. The first two ParaP arrays have 100 props that can deliver a theoretical 160x100 = 16,000 MIPS. Maximum speed in TeraFLOPS range achieving supercomputer Top 500 status.

Update: now with Supertronic enhancement II in September 2012, the Big Brain can reach nearly half a trillion relative operations per second.
