Sentient Plant Trick

Sen-tient Plant Trick

The Sentient plant performed a double trick by simultaneously growing and sending a root shoot downward to the soil layer and growing a new baby leaf in a rolled scroll format sending it upward.

The action allows the plant to grow at a faster rate and solidify a wider more extensive root base.

Photo: near the plant bottom, a lighter pigmentation root shoot is being sent downward towards the soil. Along the same stem at the top, a baby is growing in the format of a rolled up scroll, and has reached the age to begin unrolling the leaf. The baby is the eighth leaf on the plant and the root is the first above ground root grown and sent downward.

The sentient plant enjoys the best of several worlds: a combination warm greenhouse and terrarium that help contain humidity and warmth for the leaves during the winter months, an enriched base of supplemented soil for initial root growth, and a hydroponics bay room with a gravity assisted directional lead in root growth chamber for roots to seek out a different growing environment - essentially allowing the plant to grow in three environments. In this experiment, the plant decided to take advantage of all three environments for growth.

A greenhouse (also called a glasshouse, or, if with sufficient heating, a hothouse) is a structure with walls and roof made chiefly of transparent material, such as glass, in which plants requiring regulated climatic conditions are grown.[1] These structures range in size from small sheds to industrial-sized buildings. A miniature greenhouse is known as a cold frame. The interior of a greenhouse exposed to sunlight becomes significantly warmer than the external temperature, protecting its contents in cold weather.

A terrarium (plural: terraria or terrariums) is usually a sealable glass container containing soil and plants, and can be opened for maintenance to access the plants inside. However, terraria can also be open to the atmosphere rather than being sealed. Terraria are often kept as decorative or ornamental items. Closed terraria create a unique environment for plant growth, as the transparent walls allow for both heat and light to enter the terrarium.

The sealed container combined with the heat entering the terrarium allows for the creation of a small scale water cycle. This happens because moisture from both the soil and plants evaporates in the elevated temperatures inside the terrarium. This water vapour then condenses on the walls of the container, and eventually falls back to the plants and soil below.

Hydroponics is a type of horticulture and a subset of hydroculture which involves growing plants (usually crops) without soil, by using mineral nutrient solutions in an aqueous solvent. Terrestrial plants may grow with their roots exposed to the nutritious liquid, or, in addition, the roots may be physically supported by an inert medium such as perlite, gravel, or other substrates. Despite inert media, roots can cause changes of the rhizosphere pH and root exudates can affect rhizosphere biology. Wiki
