Toyota Scion IQ Mobile Observatory

TOYOTA SCION IQ MOBILE OBSERVATORY
The concept was invented by Humanoido ten years ago, using the Chevrolet Cavalier subcompact vehicle and a Meade GOTO computerized telescope. Now, the new updated mobile observatory, called the IQ Mobile Observatory, is based on the USA distributed car made by Toyota Scion. This is the smallest and most powerful mobile observatory ever designed at United Humanoido Laboratories.

The model IQ is the smallest car made by Toyota in 2015 and has significant cubic space available when the rear seats are in the down position. At this location, a high powered and dense array of science equipment is stowed. When the hatchback is unlocked, the telescope is unveiled and the mobile observatory appears.

The mobile observatory is driven to a dark country location where temporary observing will be optimal. As this is a full celestial observatory, access to power and accessories are available. The IQ can also carry blankets, provide napping or sleeping for two, and stow food.

The IQ has air conditioning, lighting for reviewing data, heating for brusque nights and a phone center for communications. It's also a good refuge against mosquitoes in the field.

It's possible to extend functions with a tiny two wheel trailer which opens up into a camper with equipment, cooking stove, porta potty, housing tent, and additional amenities of home.

Photos: The Smart car, with about the same horsepower engine is capable of pulling the illustrated trailer. The example shows that a more powerful Scion IQ car can also pull a trailer. In another example design, the trailer itself can become the observatory, housing the telescope and equipment. The snap off roof can be a waterproof canvas material for the ultimate in light weight portability.

Transportation Survey

Surveying Taipei City for
Safety Car Transport Analysis

CLEAR SIDEWALKS
This is the conventional relatively unobstructed sidewalk in good clean brick paved condition. Many sidewalks are more narrow than this one. Farther back, this sidewalk had serious and dangerous drop-offs and was completely obstructed.

Note there is a potted plant to the right of the walkway about midway to the intersection and a sign that overhangs into the walking space. Also visible is a large sewer cover. This one is cast iron and strong. Beware of many weak covers made from thin aluminum that may not support the weight of a heavy person or vehicle.

OBSTRUCTED SIDEWALKS
Although this walkway is unusually large, it's common to see a car blocking the narrow sidewalk path and to remain parked unattended directly on the sidewalk for considerable time.

Almost always, there is insufficient space (less than 24-inches) to pass around with a small 2-foot wide vehicle. This demands a diversion into the street or alternate route, perhaps backtracking to find a congestion free path.

PETROL SCOOTER PARKING
Scooter parking is not always an option as specifically designated parking areas are often maxed out with no remaining parking places as far as the eye can see.

Bikes with no place to park will often take up at least one scooter parking stall during busy times. These stalls usually do not have 24-inches width available, because of the extra large footprint of the two adjacent parked scooters.

In the photo, two people on a scooter are patrolling the area looking for a place to park.

SPECIAL PATHWAYS
A little known secret is the dark poorly illuminated special pathways that exist between some skyscrapers as left over space after the construction was completed. Amazingly, these are time saving short cuts to new places within the city.

These are not entirely untapped as some people have attached connecting "roofs" between the skyscrapers and made places to live, places to hang clothes, places to store junk, a place to store and discard garbage, and others have created a parking place for scooters (as seen in the photo). Bikers frequent these areas as traffic free shortcuts.

Generally, special pathways have a 24-inch wide clearance for a safety vehicle. A project is now underway to map all the downtown special pathways. Special pathways have some advantages for testing vehicle prototypes as they are not generally patrolled and are more private than more public streets and sidewalks. However, keep in mind that official patrolling motorcycles can fit into and traverse these small areas too.

BIKE & MOTOR LANE
Both manual bikes and gasoline powered scooters are given this lane to travel upon alongside the main traffic. However, we noted the main traffic was also using this designated area and it was not very safe. It takes a very brave person to ride a slow bike in this lane and be buzzed by reckless fast other vehicles.

DANGEROUS SIDEWALK
DROP OFFS
Sidewalks randomly have very steep drop offs, which are very dangerous. At night, they are invisible due to either poor or no illumination. In the daytime, one can see the steps are not even and have different sizes. Hitting one of these with a small vehicle to damage the vehicle. The only solution is to map all the sidewalks before traversing those areas and avoid all the drop off sidewalks. Drop offs are more or less frequent depending on the area of the city.

COMPLETELY BLOCKED SIDEWALKS
This sidewalk and drip path are completely blocked. A mobile restaurant has moved onto the sidewalk and a food grill and and a large electrical transformer are blocking the drip path.

NARROW PASSAGEWAYS
This sidewalk merges large square tiles with the drip path where garbage is dumped and a scooter blocks the way. The clear area in the passage way is about 11 inches wide, with only enough clearance for a pedestrian walking sideways through the opening.

CRAZY TRAFFIC LINES
Don't try to follow these ultimately crazy dashed white traffic lines or an accident is sure to result.

Big Brain Car

Future car inside a skyscraper?
BIG BRAIN BEGINS FUTURE CAR
PART 1

INSTALLMENT PART ONE: THEY SAY IF YOU LIVE LONG ENOUGH you will be transported into the future. The Big Brain intelligent machine has lived long enough to make its own future, with fantastic projects that see invisible nanite machines, microscopically probe invisible molecular structures, peer out to the unknown doorways of the Universe's beginning, and work with the deep mysteries within the realm of hidden Quantum worlds.

Wheel or no wheel?
If you thought Dark Matter in the Universe was mind boggling ... the Big Brain is noted for constructing machines that no one ever dreamed about, such as the GT Telescope made from recycled adjuncts in space, the Quadlyzer Quantum Analyzer and the GMM Molecular Microscope. One may ask, "What next?" This blog details the startling answer to that question.

NOW ENTER THE YEAR 2013 - WITH BIG BRAIN'S DESIGNS POURING IN, A NEW transportation device is being built by the Big Brain Initiative, which is unlike any previous vehicle known. This futuristic car can help save the World with its zero carbon footprint, no CO2 emissions and complete absence of fossil fuel use. It's energy is remarkably efficient, completely renewable through safe, benign and even free natural sources.

Mechanics or not?
No longer will we make trips to the gas station and pay the high prices demanded by the oil monopoly. No longer will we contribute to the destruction of the Earth's atmosphere or experience the horrendous increases in global warming. Why should we put up with terrible toxins in the air that cause millions of cases of lung cancer every month, cause melting polar caps resulting in rising sea levels that flood our coastlines and kill our oceanic life and coastal population, create increasing force levels and frequencies of hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes, and unstable Earth atmosphere, and the unending rise of unbearable heat across the world that threatens the very existence of our civilization. This is too much to bear for us and for our children and for future societies. Now we have an opportunity to do something about it.

Here is an affordable fun space age car, that you can make yourself with a little DIY finesse and pocket change, or perhaps buy a finished product, or maybe print a copy out on your 3D printer -  and you can drive it home and keep it in your house or small apartment - no garage needed.

Aware of the new small housing movement? Individuals are now constructing their own small homes and avoiding mortgage payments and becoming more independent, even living off the grid with complete self sufficiency.

Compared to the large hog vehicles currently on the road, the Big Brain's car is 16.8 times smaller in volume and hundreds of times more efficient. It has an unprecedented level of safety built in and is being pruned toward a new safe method of utilizing infrastructure. Maintenance on the space age car craft is almost non-existent, i.e. simply not necessary - no oil changes, no tuneups, and no fluid levels to maintain.

Big Brain City Transport

BIG BRAIN URBAN TRANSPORT INITIATIVE
BIG BRAIN SEEKS TO DEVELOP NEW URBAN TRANSPORT
Can a multi hybrid urban Emcycle design hold a very large Brain?

We don't know why exactly but the Big Brain is seeking a means of transportation in the big city and looking to create some methodical city urban transport.

This is possibly for an autonomous application or perhaps to more readily find local parts for the needs of a scientific brain conducting experiments.

The transport could also assist in initiatives that construct various scientific projects, and research. It could simply supply the day to day needs of a hungry Big Brain. Whatever it's up to, it looks very interesting.

Follow along as this project unfolds into something that could affect the future of personal transports!

1st step: tiny blueprint
The first step was the research initiative that has comprehensively explored the designs of tens of thousands of cars, motorcycles, scooters, bikes, trikes, flying machines, skateboards, and alternate transport vehicles. Included in this study are future designs, artistic visions and far thinking hybrids. A hybrid may be a half mix of car and bike. The Emcycle design, for example, is part motorcycle, part tricycle, and part car. The trike design employs a third wheel with two wheels in a side by side config. This takes up considerable space on pathways with some obstructions, compared to inline transporting, so we're saying this design is only one possible reference for study.

Three wheeled city transport design looks interesting
What criteria should a personal transport vehicle include? This is a rather large question. The answer to this varies depending on the local laws and conditions, and the needs and requirements of the intended purpose.

Some climates are mild year round and some have fierce winters. Some cities are highly congested and some less populated areas are less crowed. This will dramatically affect the designs. Here's the base list of criteria established by the Big Brain Urban Transport Initiative.

Small car steering: wheel, joystick, handle bar
LEFT: Concept car design shows suggested interior

The interior layout may end up with a completely different design, especially in the cargo area and sizing proportions. A design this small would likely have significant changes, with steering located in the center, for example.

Note the bottom pedals for human power. Spartan doors open upwards to enable access within minimal space environments. Each door has a reason for being open on the bottom, to facilitate human feet to protrude and access the manual human-powered pedals.
