Convert Old Computers Into Processors

The research department has found a way to convert "old" computers into vast numbers of individual and parallel processors. This could potentially increase the number of processors inside the Big Brain by a vast amount, perhaps well into the millions.

For example, the use of an extra Apple iMac could produce an additional 500,000 processors. The idea comes from the Propeller chip, which, as one chip, has eight cogs and eight instances of the Spin interpreter.

A recycled computer can have many instances as well, with a placement of the interpreters into the main machine. The key will involve finding a low overhead interpreter and linking the repetition of interpreters from the computer to the remaining machines. This may be accomplished with cloning, and the new technique of spatial mapping used in our Monster Machine series as linked to Big Brain telescopes.

The numerical limit of these new processors is unknown at this time when using all the Big Brain peripherals. It will likely depend on the computer's speed, memory, size of the interpreter, speed of the interpreter, display real estate, and other factors. An experiment is being conducted to determine the practicalities of speed and function, and the number of cloned processors that can co-exist on the latest iMac

How useful is the technique of Projected Mapping?


One of the first uses of Projected Mapping was with the AAR Machine. AAR Machine Projected Control Mapping was invented to transfer, map and project controls from a boiler face plate to the actual functions for operating the Altercated-Alternated Reality Machine (AAR). This method works well and was adopted for additional devices, including Procedural Machines. The final projected destination for the control mapping was the Lab's supercomputer Big Brain. After 30 days of use, the technique is more perfected, works well and is now implemented in almost all new machines.

Projection mapping is in use in other academia and studies to conventionally transfer parts of objectss, such in the case of a spherical planet like the Earth or Mars, to that of a flat surface, often resulting in a mercator projection that can represent maps on a flat-plane paper in two dimensions.

The Lab is using the projection in a different manner to go from a 3D representations on a planar surface that exists only in code or that which is brought into graphical representations, to that which exists only inside the mind as thought, i.e. in these examples, the mind of the supercomputer or the mind of a human transfer agent.

The projection is then linked to the actual function and the function is carried out. In this manner, full control panels containing arrays of function switches can be implemented.

AAR PROJECTIVE MAPPING
The AAR Altercated Alternated Reality Machine Control Panel uses Projective Mapping of controls.The machine's functions can be mapped onto the actual function controls, including various toggle switches and turn dials.


Projection involves the connection between the Boiler Face Plate and the actual functions so that a visual of actual controls is in effect. There are sufficient controls to map all 30 functions and additional controls are available for another five functions. The current list of controls are detailed at the link. These are subject to change at any time.
