DIY Alien in a Jar

The project is to put this alien into a jar
DIY ALIEN IMPRISONED IN A JAR PROJECT

As we moved our SETI equipment to a new laboratory location, for our own Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence in the Milky Way galaxy, we were appropriately gifted with the presence of a tiny alien!

This interior scape was color printed to serve as a method to modify the look of the jar

ALIENS
Predator, as seen in the two movies, came with it's own electronic whip from the future and multi-functional spear. The predator also has a mask, part of its protective warrior suit.

METHOD
To put a cap on its impish behavior, we decided to locate a home jar and encapsulate the little critter therein.

JARS
Jars abound in the Humanoido Lab - for electronic projects housed in jars, electronic brains in jars, robots in jars, and now an alien in a jar. Plastic jars are free or low cost, easy to find, convenient to work, and can be recycled to help save the Earth's environment.

 SPOTLIGHTS
Attaching material
To showcase the imprisoned little beast, we obtained two micro-miniature LED flashlights, model number ZY-M020, one with white and one with red LEDs for NT$120.

These are tiny tri-multifunction lights with steady on, blinking, and strobing selections. The body is made from a type of neoprene flexible rubber with a looping flexible lanyard, a rigid plastic angle mount, and the embedded four function switch (including off). 

Each flashlight has two LEDs positioned 1/2-inch on center. A black battery compartment lid is the entry for 2xCR2032 battery cells.

THE HOME JAR
The plastic home jar came from the pet isle at the Welcome grocery store and contained pet food which was given away, and the label was removed.

Remove the label by applying heat to first soften the adhesive backing then slowly pullup a corner of the label and evenly pull it off. Do not pull too quickly or the label will tear and leave a sticky glue mess.

The reason for using a pet food jar is two fold, one, it has a carrying handle on the threaded lid top, and two, it has four nearly square sides for less image distortion when viewing the jar's interior.

This facilitates photography of the interior contents, in this case, a little alien beast, with almost no distortion.

Paste As You Wish Taiwan product

MOUNTING
The trick was mounting the Predator in the jar. Normally a putty type material adhesive is used, such as trade name Blu-Tack. However, in Taiwan, only a chinese product is available with a literally translated name of "Paste As You Wish."

TRANSLATION
The low cost "Paste As You Wish" attaching material is described as high tech, safe, nontoxic, pastes standing/flat surfaces, repeat use, environment friendly, and the method requires no glue, nails, or double sided stick tape.

It took a few moments of study to realize the material was not actually a goop of real tar, because some of the material was residual and stuck to hands and fingers.

Two 20g packages were obtained from the dollar store for NT$20 each. Five stores were visited to find the material. The product appears like a black sticky tar.

For use, stretch it and pull off a piece and then shape it like clay. Note: some black sticky tar-like pieces of the material may cling to hands or clothing, therefore be sure to knead the material for even consistency.


SCAPE RESULTS
The project included the color printing of various scapes such as the large star ship, the jungle, the future interior, and the collection of alien and human skulls and bones.

These collections of prints change the jar ambiance, style, location, and time era.

However, to avoid clutter, and for the best lighting and use of the strobing colored spotlights, the best impact is with the alien and it's three accessories only, showcased inside the jar.

CUTE COSBABY
The Predator figure is a cute CosBaby AVPR Wolf Predator action figure in baby form (Catalog Number 1686203) from Hot Toys, with articulated joints, highly detailed accessories and removable weapons. Made from vinyl, it stands 3-inchs tall.

Humanoido Labs Update

HUMANOIDO LABS UPDATE
First new robot at the new lab
Humanoido introduced three new international labs in 2014. The recent move to new facilities provides more space and was completed in November of 2014. Work is progressing to refine the setup within each laboratory.

Moving into the new facilities - panoramic view
Rocket Lab is located on the entire second floor. This facility has resources in mechanics, electronics, digital computing, the Big Brain, parts and components, all the Micro Space equipment, inventions, rockets, and a series of working spacecraft. Two large work benches are currently provided for work. The laboratory also includes guest space for scientists.

iPhone Pocket Telescope

IPHONE POCKET TELESCOPE

As put together by Humanoido in the new Astro Aeronautics Lab, the iPhone pocket telescope is designed as a small portable telescope that can shoot great images without a tripod or special mounting. This is accomplished using electronic and combined software image stabilization and the additional camera features of the new iPhone 6 Plus.

The phone, telescope tube assembly, and telescope clip all fit easily into a pocket. The US$13 telescope is a barrel, with focus, that threads into a clip which attaches it to the iPhone.

The tube rotates with a scale from 3 meters to infinity. The iPhone provides auto focus which works well through the telescope.

The photos shown here are all from the unit hand held. Note the remarkable sharpness obtained as a product of the mobile phone and the lens quality.






Telescope view at 8x
The telescope, made of coated precision glass lenses, has 8x magnification at F1.1 and the iPhone has 3X zoom, giving EFL values ranging from 8 to 24X on a sliding scale. Astronomically speaking, this should be enough scale to detect rings around Saturn, cloud belts on Jupiter, the Galilean Moons, and great detail on the Earth's Moon. It will also be exceptionally handy for capturing special selected events like occultations of stars, planets, and moons plus solar and lunar eclipses. Note: solar eclipses will require the use of special heat absorbing and light absorbing features.

distance. This was shot with the iPhone's normal camera lens, the telescope at its standard 8x and the phones 3x zoom. The round tank is visible approximately in the center of the photo.


The next photo shows the tank view at 8x through the telescope with no zoom. As the telescope is fitted, there is some vignetting though very slight near the edges. The depth of field is focused directly on the tank.

The telescope view at 24x using the Apple camera zoom is remarkable for a hand held image, showing sharpness. The camera cost NT$398 and was missing the tripod and the mobile phone mount. This prompted the discovery of the telescope to function well in a hand held mode.

In the future, the telescope and camera pair will be paced during the first clear nights when the Moon and brighter planets are visible.

DeckLab in the Sky

The new DeckLab is still capable of showing a portion of the 101 skyscraper and its peak tower towards the northeastern direction. The horizon is appreciably missing from the DeckLab view. As the DL will have uses for aeronautical engineering and elements of atmospheric phenomena, its orientation is perfectly suited.

NEW DeckLab: Since moving all Big Brain Lab and Space1 operations to a new location, many things have changed. The new facilities now allow a somewhat larger deck laboratory in the sky. The new lab is suspended upwards to a hundred feet in the air, facing a polar orientation of the sky.

DeckLab offers fundamental space for the conduction of aeronautical research, a mini launch pad for smaller spacecraft, and the study of weather phenomena.

LAB FACILITIES Facilities include these power hookups for a natural gas line, electricity, plus cold and hot water (see second photo).

THE OLD LAB The old lab was capable of showing a sky view down approximately from the zenith down to the horizon and spectacular views of the 101 skyscraper, currently the third largest building in the world. (see bottom photo) The photo shows 101 as seen in the pre-sunrise dawn sky on May 20th, 2014, before the move to a new lab location. Compare this photo to the top photo, which was taken on Wednesday, November 5th, 2014 at 3:33 pm. All photos are taken with a Canon PowerShot S95 and a 6-22.5mm 1.20-4.9 lens. Komputer

KOMPUTER

Work has evolved with Komputer, the new processing machine inside the powerful Black Box Space Machine - the enigmatic multi purposed function machine designed for Space1 Company. Space1 is a space tourist venture that allows "anyone" to go into space and tour the excitement.

Komputer now has two versions, i.e. two chip versions are being tested and analyzed. The photos are example configs. The top shows version 2 with multiple processors and chips, while the lower photo shows two single processors connected together.

Komputer is part of the Safety Rocket. The Safety Rocket invention assures the safety of the astronaut(s) riding into space and returning aboard the rocket.

The one chip version is easy to program but is not a parallel processor. It handles many tasks in linear fashion.

The second chip is a parallel processor with multiple processors inside one chip. It can process many things simultaneously, but is very challenging to program.

The project uses spinoff technologies from the AM Algorithm Machine and the Big
Brain. Also, technology is brought in from the Quadlyzer Quantum Machine. (see bottom photo)

The Quad uses four single processors arranged in a cubical fashion.

Space Machine

SPACE MACHINE
Space1 has invented the Space Machine. Previously under wraps and known as code name Black Box, the new SM machine is the only machine that has the capability to alter rocket time. This is essentially a pure referential form of time travel, referential to the time base of the rocket, as the flow of time is altered in ways to speed up time, slow down time, or stop time.

The Space Machine is split into several discrete modules that perform various rocket and astronaut related duties. 

The RTM Referential Time Machine is interfaced as a module to the SM along with other modules to handle weightlessness, G-forces, vibration, sound, optics, and other sensory data.

The SM includes a the first Space Komputer - i.e. the heart of the Space Machine is the Space Komputer. KOSMOS handles space time, rocket parameters and it collaborates with the rocket flight computer.

Space1 has completed its issue number two magazine and begun work on issue #3 Sept. - Dec. 2014. Issue three is already spectacular with articles about the Space Machine, a tiny space station, and modifying a keychain camera.


Space1 New Rocket Laboratory

This candid photo shows the first released image of Space1's new Polyethyline-Terephthalate Safety Rocket, which will have significantly more R&D and laboratory space in the new rocket lab under development.
SPACE1 NEW ROCKET LAB
On September 24th, 2014, the management of Space1 agree to invest in the development of a new rocket laboratory and space operations center. The new site is expected to be a much larger operations and expansive area than the existing site, which will be discontinued.

The new site will include the twelve company mergers and all of their instruments, technology, manpower and capabilities.

The new larger and more equipped site will be located in a quiet private yet conveniently accessible location conducive to rocket and aerospace technology development.

SPACE1 COMPANY AND THE
PRESIDENTIAL MEETING
The Presidential Meeting took place on Saturday September 20th 2014 in Hong Kong. Space1's CEO, Founder, and Rocket Scientist ヒューマノイドああ met with the President 風水大師宋 and discussed the future of space tourism using Space1's Safety Rockets. The President has agreed to invest in a broad future path for Space1, continuing backing and support of its technology, and expanding operations in multiple international locations.

The company will continue to develop safety rockets for space tourism and invest heavily in R&D, increase the technological inventory and supply of space equipment, and pave the way for future space craft.

Part of the plan is to continue development of a space station to support outbound rockets in mid-flight, along the way towards specific aerospace apogee destinations.

Also designed is a return space plane, a glider that can detach from the rocket and return its occupants safely to the Earth.

It's also expected that the current rocket fleet of 14 rockets will be expanded to include various new designs with innovative space interiors and a multitude of new features.

Space1's Micro Spacecraft

SPACE1 MICRO SPACECRAFT
The past year in r/c hobby flight, the industry has seen advanced technical innovation introduced with helicopters, quad fliers, and other flying inventions. This has filtered down to the low cost toy store, thanks to the highly competitive China market with ability to make things cheaper, smaller, and at extremely lower cost than other products on the market.

To adapt this technology can result in yet newer innovations, at a fraction of the cost of their professional counterparts. Surprisingly, in the space industry, this may indicate the difference between $25 and 25 million dollars and development time of months instead of decades.

Space1 set out to develop the smallest spacecraft capable of connected human flight through experimental add-ons and modifications. The entire unmodified craft is about 11.9 grams in weight. When we attempted to attach a number 808 keychain camera, the added weight was a no go. A standard #808 camera weighs about 16 grams. Shedding the case can subtract 6 grams. This makes the camera just under the weight of the craft.
