Humanoido and SPACE1 Industries have teamed up to manufacture the world's first artificial planets designed for space colonization, becoming a multiplanetary species, and to be lofted into Megascopic space by the Super Rocket.

These are small exampling planets and their space colonists must be created on the same minuscule scale. Current activity entails the compression of humans by shrinkage (a topic of many previous Big Brain blogs) to fit the confines of the planet, where size is based on population density and the ulterior volume of the planet.

The largest current experimental Micron planet is spherical at the equator with a diameter of 3.5" and a habitable ulterior equator circumference of C = 2 pi r = 2*3.14*(3.5/2) = 6.28*1.75 = 10.99". This equator, or the area of one of the circular ends of a cylinder is calculated as pi*r*r = 3.14*1.75*1.75 = 9.62 cu inches. The volume of a planetary sphere is 4/3 pi r^3 = 4/3*3.14*(1.75)^3 = 4.19*5.36 = 22.46 cu inches. Therefore the Micron City must be on the order of about 11-inches linear equatorial length distribution. Experiments have shown the width of the city does not accrue too significant of a planetary curvature as the city wraps around on the ulterior. The height of structures will have limits however. The Micron Planet can become habitable with Micron Avatars at a size designed to populate the city. Sky cameras with SD micro cards will record the interior global planetary evolution during a strip of compressed space time and are retrieved for analysis.

It was a series of evolutionary Space1 steps with the implantation of small and minuscule modular machine thinking life form nodes into rockets. The rapid thinking machine life form is ideally suited for this purpose, reacting tens, hundreds or thousands of times faster than a human.

When equipped and grown with robotic or specific types of sensors and motion control, the SLF can correct in-flight anomaly, and make a space journey more comfortable and safe. It can also multi-processor multitask taking care of many space journey duties.

For rockets, the SLF can data log flight information, provide tracking and homing signals, initiate parachute release at the proper time, and provide safety protocol.

This NULT view represents not only the far reaching expanses of billions of celestial evolving nodes in various times like that of a cosmic neural net expansion, but is similar to the potential expanses of a machine brain's neural net evolving into the future.

The project objective is to develop a cortex machine brain, demonstrate human-to-machine brain transfer, in particular to take some relatively simple human characteristics and transfer portions to the machine brain, whereby human traits could be given greater life longevity, leading towards immortality.

What are some of the long range conceptual ideas behind the Brain Cortex project? The first objective is to create a machine brain that can hold a portion of a human biological brain and place it into a definable container that can more readily survive its forward electric journey into time, through the passage of worldly events.

Next, the cortex is given a means to survive on its own, i.e. self recharging batteries and its own renewable energy source such as solar power and the ability to gather power from natural lighting.

The electric brain is given life and the ability to communicate with humans in natural language.

The machine brain is programed not only for life, but for the ability to learn, remember, and ask questions.

A simplified human subset Katra is created and this is transferred into the electric holding halls of the machine brain, then integrated into its living annuls.

This leads to a transfer from the human mind into the machine mind involving the three necessities: facts, experiences, personality.

The next step is the retention of these human attributes in long term, perhaps eternal, memory, demonstrating a greater longevity when residing inside the machine compared to residing inside human biology, the latter of which may not be repairable.

How far into the future can you go?
In nearing the final step, the machine brain, with its human knowledge transferred inside it, undergoes conventional time travel into the distant future, moving towards a state of immortality. Whether this state is ever achieved depends on a number of factors that will be decided once the journey has begun.

The cortex in a jar can demonstrate a simple way to transfer part of human knowledge into a machine, conceptually, showing the potential for more advanced systems in the future.

The brain cortex project is considering at least three types of classifications for upload from a human brain. There are three areas for a simplified upload to one cortex layer. This includes factual knowledge, personality and experience.  While factual knowledge may initially appear less unique to a person's characteristics, it is not. It can certainly be a defining signature based on the type of knowledge one knows and the level and quantity of a particular interest.  Personality can include likes and dislikes, viewpoints, philosophy and values. More knowledge and factual material can indicate personality interests about astronomy for example.  Experiences can include previous choices made, stories, and things that are selected as one over another due to learned past events.

Talk with a Machine

TALK WITH A MACHINE
A chat with a machine can be one of the strangest experiences! Now you can talk to a machine, computer, server, robot, and even a brain in a jar. Virtual chat bots can carry on a conversation with you, more or less.

Some are very unique and display an interesting personality while others don't really get the questions. Some can learn from you while others are dated and thought to be a bit annoying. This is a developing form of AI. The interface is usually by text, however some have online speech output like the Fake Captain Kirk. In review, we noticed the chatbots sometimes use the same core engine. For example, Susan and Alice had some of the exact same responses (re: open the window). Some are closer to passing the Turing Test, like Awkward Chatbot, which appears to be texting you from a computer or smart phone, sometimes very realistically and other times very funny. How can you argue with a machine that says, "brb - bathroom."

Guess what happened to Watson after he won his one million dollar pot on Jeopardy, became a sensational star, and went home? Apparently fame and fortune went to his head...

his new swearing potty-mouth caught the attention of colleagues who had to immediately give him a surgical labotomy! —

IBM was forced to delete the nasty language section of Watson's machine brain. Will this become a trend with machine life forms owning higher vocabulary without the common sense of how to use the subtitles of language? Or maybe Watson was indeed angry and torqued off about something (wanting a machine body to go with his brain?) and just being a bit more explicative expressive... We wonder. When does the machine go beyond its maker and become pi$$ed off and cynical? Is this a warning to be heeded?

TIME TO CLEAN UP "Artificial intelligence machine Watson began swearing after memorizing the contents of the Urban Dictionary. It was fed the repository of colloquial English in a bid to equip it with the knowledge to pass the Turing test of computer intelligence. But researchers were forced to wipe the dictionary from the machine's memory after it started giving backchat to researchers."

Some were saying Justin Bieber has nothing over Watson, in the typical Hollywood competitive spirit of stardom change. At least Watson won't get any strange tattoos anytime soon, unless...

When Steve Jobs passed away last year, a joke bounced around--not that there was anything particularly funny about it--that the man who had done so much to shape modern technology hadn't really died at all, but rather had figured out how to upload himself into the Mac OS so he could live on with us, and with his products, forever. The notion was ostensibly so far out as to be ridiculous. But not everyone sees it that way.

At the recent Global Future 2045 International Congress held in Moscow, 31-year-old media mogul Dmitry Itskov told attendees how he plans to create exactly that kind of immortality, first by creating a robot controlled by the human brain, then by actually transplanting a human brain into a humanoid robot, and then by replacing the surgical transplant with a method for simply uploading a person's consciousness into a surrogate 'bot.

The Pentagon’s new Avatar project, unveiled by Danger Room a few weeks back, sounds freaky enough: Soldiers practically inhabiting the bodies of robots, who’d act as “surrogates” for their human overlords in battle.

But according to Dmitry Itskov, a 31-year-old Russian media mogul, the U.S. military’s Avatar initiative doesn’t go nearly far enough. He’s got a massive, sci-fi-esque venture of his own that he hopes will put the Pentagon’s project to shame. Itskov’s plan: Construct robots that’ll (within 10 years, he hopes) actually store a human’s mind and keep that consciousness working. Forever.

Also Stephen Hawking. At screening of a new film about his life this week, the cosmologist said he believes it's possible to retain a digital version of the brain after the body dies—though it probably won't happen in his lifetime.  

"I think the brain is like a program in the mind, which is like a computer, so it's theoretically possible to copy the brain onto a computer and so provide a form of life after death," he told a crowd in Cambridge, reported the Guardian. "However, this is way beyond our present capabilities."

RAY KURZWEIL
Futurist and transhumanist Ray Kurzweil, Google's director of engineering, suggested at the event that we'll be able to transfer the entire human mind to a computer within four decades. "Based on conservative estimates of the amount of computation you need to functionally simulate a human brain, we'll be able to expand the scope of our intelligence a billion-fold,” Kurzweil said at the conference.

The quest for immortality has been enjoying a moment in the limelight this month, not least because of Google's new moonshot project, Calico, which will focus on studying the science of aging—namely, how we can stop it from happening.

If you’ve got Danger Room’s taste in movies, you’ve probably seen both ideas on the big screen. Now Darpa, the Pentagon’s far-out research arm, wants to bring ‘em into the real world.

BUDGET
In the agency’s $2.8 billion budget for 2013, unveiled on Monday, they’ve allotted $7 million for a project titled “Avatar.” The project’s ultimate goal, not surprisingly, sounds a lot like the plot of the same-named (but much more expensive) flick.

According the agency, “the Avatar program will develop interfaces and algorithms to enable a soldier to effectively partner with a semi- autonomous bi-pedal machine and allow it to act as the soldier’s surrogate.”


YOUR AVATAR
So how would Itskov’s “Avatar” work? Well, he anticipates developing the program in stages. Within the next few years, Itskov plans to deploy robots that can be operated by the human mind. That’s actually not too wild a proposition: Pentagon-backed research has already demonstrated a monkey controlling a robotic arm using some nifty mind-meld tech, for example. And one study on human patients, out of Johns Hopkins, is using brain implants to control artificial limbs.

THE PLAN

After phase one of “Avatar,” however, Itskov’s ambitions arguably eclipse even those of the Pentagon’s maddest mad scientists. In 10 years, he anticipates “transplanting” a human mind into a robotic one. After that, Itskov wants to do away with surgical procedures and instead upload the contents of the mind into its brand new, artificial robo-body. And, last but not least, within 30 years Itskov anticipates developing hologram-type bodies — instead of tangible robotic ones — that can “host” human consciousness.

The hypothetical transfer of a human mind either into a computer or other non-human receptacle, or from one human body to another; also referred to as mind uploading or mind downloading. Transference to a computer would result in a form of artificial intelligence sometimes called an infomorph, while transference to an artificial body would result in a cybernetic organism, or cyborg. Uploading consciousness into bodies created by robotic means is a goal of some in the artificial intelligence community. In this scenario, the consciousness is assumed to be recorded and/or transferred to a new robotic brain, which generates responses indistinguishable from the original organic brain. However, it is not known how much computer memory or processing capacity, or what kind of architecture, would be needed to simulate the activity of a human mind inside a computer.

In the scenarios presented there are usually several parts to the process. First, we have to ascertain the contents or details of an individual's mind. Primarily this would be done by scanning it, either invasively (destructively) or noninvasively. Then we have to transfer the results of the scan into a robot brain or construct a robot brain to match the structure of the human brain scanned.

Paul and Cox also discuss the possibility of mind transfer via a transplant process scenario, in which parts of a person's brain are systematically replaced by electronic parts from a robot brain. They envision replacing each neuron, synapse, and connection with a circuit switch and line that functions like the natural system. At the end the mind has been transferred to the robot brain. They also mention the possibility of growing the brain to twice its size (twice as many neurons), with all information duplicated. The brain is then spilt down the corpus callosum and each half put into a new body, and you wind up with two people and successful mind duplication. However, this would not be an instance of mind transfer from human brain to robot brain (Paul & Cox, 1996, p. 189).

In his earlier work Mind Children, Moravec presents several possible scenarios for mind-transfer. He clearly recognizes that transfer must maintain personal identity for it to be a continuation of the same person. Transplanting a brain into a robot body would not be enough, because it would not have changed the limitation of the limited and fixed intelligence of the human brain. What is needed is a way to get the mind out of the brain (Moravec, 1988, p. 109). Here of course we see that another goal of mind transfer is not immortality but getting a lot smarter.

The beginning of a project to transfer a portion of the human brain, i.e. some simple attributes, into a machine brain cortex begins with establishing power for immortality. This home jar will house ten D size batteries for a total of 40,000 mAh at 3 volts to power the cortex without charging for nearly 2 months. AI Software for Tricore Basic Stamp Supercomputer

BS1 Specs show 256 bytes program size
AI SOFTWARE FOR TRICORE BASIC STAMP SUPER COMPUTER
This is the lite version of TINY AI. The Tricore version of Tiny AI is now available as TriCore_AI.bs1, for copy (see below) and for download at the provided link. The code sets up a life cycle for three cores using the available resources provided by a Parallax BS1.

Download the completed software program in PBASIC at the site below, or simply copy and paste the provided code into the BASIC Stamp editor software. Tricore_AI is the smallest AI program for the series of Stamp processors, fitting into a mere 256 bytes EEPROM. The remarkable attributes of the tricore_ai.bs1 software include self enumerating, determinism, memorizing, remember/recall, nap, dream, sleep, wakeup, talk, listen, know what is heard, work, socialize, hibernate and randomization.

tricore_ai.bs1 software is minimized code with minimal comment length.
