Space1 Enterprise has established a minimalist approach to launching the first tourists into space with its Safety Rocket.

This will put Space1 tourists into space a full 2 years ahead of the expected timeline. The history setting first Space1 touring astronaut could space debut in early 2016.

Over 50 Years ago on April 12,1961 the era of Human spaceflight opened with a roar to the heavens above with the thunderous blastoff of Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin aboard the Vostok 1 capsule from the Baikonur Cosmodrome Site No.1 at 9:07 a.m. Moscow time. Gagarin, at the age of 27, dared to brave the perils of the unknown and became the first human being to be strapped atop a rocket, ascend to outer space and view what no one else had ever seen, the entire Earth as a sphere.

Vostok 3KA-3 spacecraft (Vostok 1) reentry capsule with its parachute on the ground after landing south west of Engels, in the Saratov region of southern Russia. Gagarin ejected from the capsule at 7 km altitude and parachuted safely to the ground.  

For tourists, the minimalist approach includes the Safety Rocket, a basic space suit with integrated computer, a rocket flight computer, and fundamental sensors. Special cams will document the tourist flight, launch, and recovery.

Space1 History of Lunar Mapping - Keep it Secret or Die

Few Moon maps were published around the time of the invention of the telescope. There's a reason for this.

Even the invention of the telescope was kept secret for many years. Davinci apparently invented one and created lunar drawings, according to his notes from the year 1500, which is 109 years before Galileo's telescope.

It's now known that many drawings were made but few survived. The maps typically were kept in the author's hidden scrap books of lunar depictions and for good reason.

If you talked about what you had seen, published results, or made drawings known, you would be executed, usually hung on a cross and tortured there for so called heresy by the church.

This is a small chronological collection of the earliest surviving historical lunar maps, dates, and the names of the brave authors and inventors.

Leonardo, in his unpublished notes at that time, invented a telescope in 1500. He kept his notes secret to avoid being hung and killed by the church.

109 years later, Galileo announced his telescope results and was almost killed, escaping to exile and ending up in house arrest for the rest of his life.

"Several lunar features are quite recognizable in this engraving, the second in the series, based on a sketch made on December 3, 1609. The mountains east of Mare Imbrium (Sea of Rains) form the ring at the top, and the sizable crater at the bottom is probably Albategnius, here quite a bit larger than life, and undoubtedly conveying by its grandeur the impression it made on Galileo's mind." In 1609, Astronomer Thomas Harriot may have drawn maps of the Moon before Galileo published his drawings.

"The modern face of the moon first emerged in the early evening of November 30, 1609, when Galileo Galilei in Padua turned his telescope toward the moon, noted the irregularities of the crescent face, and made a drawing to record his discoveries. He made at least five more drawings of the moon over the next eighteen days, prepared careful watercolor sketches from these drawings, and then selected four of these to be engraved for his revolutionary Starry Messenger, which appeared the following March. Galileo's treatise announced to an astonished public that the moon was a cratered chunk of elements --a world -- and not some globe of quintessential perfection. It was a new land, to be explored, charted, and named. The science of selenography was born."

His first is a Lunar drawing, possibly the first recorded observation using a telescope, dated 26 July 1609. 

The second refined depiction is thought to be his composite drawing of the Moon dating 1612 or 1613, and is considered by some experts to mark the birth of modern cartography.

Harriot's drawings predated Galileo's famous drawings by six months. But Harriot kept himself secret.

Galileo apparently did not date his drawings. However, the publication Siderius Nuncius published in 1610 shows Galileo’s initial sketches of the Moon.

Cosmac Elf Computer - Tales from the Crypt

COSMAC ELF COMPUTER - TALES FROM THE CRYPT
Humanoido discovered an ancient historical dusty crypt with tons of original COSMAC Elf stuff from the 1970s, topped with the original color photo album over 40 years old (when common digital cameras did not exist).

The time capsule was opened on Friday September 4th, 2015, exactly 36 years from January of 1979. 

Remarkably, almost 4 decades later, near a half a century of time has passed, propelling the contents of the lonesome COSMAC ELF computer system and its original photos into a future world. Photos, amazing they survived the time travel experience, show the working COSMAC Elf computer, with power supply, an analog meter monitoring supply voltage, SONY 5-inch diagonal TV, Motherboard and ASCII keyboard for expansion.

Humanoido got his start on the 1802 processor chip, and by home brewing a wire wrapped 1802 computer system on a phenolic electronics board. This system was later expanded with Netronics boards.

This COSMAC Elf may have become the first vehicle computer, being placed in a Dodge pickup truck to keep track of mileage, navigation distances and directions, rates of travel, and displaying graphic trip maps.

The system was also the first to calculate telescope design data from the observatories first Telescope Systems Design Program as written and expanded by Humanoido in Tiny BASIC. This was instrumental in creating 40 and 50-inch telescopes, the largest amateur telescopes in the world at that time. The Elf program has survived the time and evolution of 8 different computing systems and language variances, and is currently in use today for designing CCD telescope systems.

Humanoido used the Elf computer in another science mechanics application to design a mirror grinding machine for astronomical telescope making. The program written calculated the size and rates of belts, pulleys, and motors.

The Elf was also used to compose and reproduce classical music and explore computer programming with the 1802 chip. The chip is often referenced to the 1802 chip series found in the Voyager spacecraft, the longest lasting probe in NASA's space program which has left the outer boundaries of the solar system and is approaching deep space.

This Netronics Cosmac Elf version with the RCA CDP1802MPU primary processor chip is running the famous Star Ship program. The graphics at the top are actual program code. The system has an RF modulator to feed the video to the TV, and since the photos were taken in 1979, this system was fully expanded and can run Tom Pittman's TINY BASIC software in 4K of RAM.

Like the Voyager Spacecraft in Deep Space, this COSMAC Elf computer system is working perfectly.  We can only speculate on the discoveries from new worlds in the next 40 years.

SPEED UP EVO TO GROW AND EVOLVE MACHINE LIFE FORMS

Evolution is a gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form. Humans are continuing to evolve over time in terms of height and other physical attributes. Animals and other biological life forms also continue to evolve and adapt to changing environments. Humans evolve their surroundings through technology and its advancement.

Biological evolution is a slow process and can take millions and even billions of years. However, machine evo is a different story. It's possible to build one machine on Monday, and on Tuesday, modify it and evolve it into a more efficient machine. Given a machine life form, the prospect of evolving it at a fast rate is viable. One only needs to put more hours of development or manpower on it, so speeding up machine evo is possible.

In the future, machines will do their own evo at very fast and high speed rates. Getting to that point will require very intelligent machines as life forms that can go beyond humans.

For now, you can evolve your own machine life form by giving it more capability, more processors, more parallel tasks, greater memory, higher speed, and the ability to do more thinking and reasoning.

Join us as we celebrate entering into the Big Brain's fourth year of operations and discovery! The fourth year began on August 5th 2013.

Our 1st post about the Propeller chip-based Big Brain was on August 5th, 2010, when Humanoido posed the famous question:

If you had a big brain for your robot, what would you put in it? I think some similarity to a human brain is good, for example, put in vision processing, memory, and a robot autonomic nervous system.

ABOUT THE BIG BRAIN The Big Brain is now a thinking machine that was born from a small hobby project. By the year 2002, its design was expanded for several robots, culminating with multiple parallel processors placed in a humanoid. The objective was to create a living thinking humanoid robot brain of autonomous nature with a knowledge base.

The Big Brain has probed and dissected the inner space micro and nano scopic workings of its own Propeller chip circuits thus creating enhancements unbeknownst to the original manufacturing chip company.
Starting with one processor, it was realized that more power was needed, thus, over the years, it continued to grow with additional processors until it reached a very massive state around August of 2010 when it was switched to primarily Parallax Propeller chips.

Every year since that time, we've celebrated the Propeller chip birthing anniversary of the Big Brain. In three years, a lot has happened. The biggest milestones can be summarized by the Propeller chip era seen below.

One Year Anniversary Party
We're holding a One Year Anniversary Party for the Big Brain over the weekend. Everyone's invited!  I'm checking on appointments at the University of Technology to possibly see the new humanoids and also checking the Exposition Lecture agenda through the university where they host Brain research. Some interesting facts, the Big Brain is the largest Parallax machine ever built in my smallest lab. There's over 300 smaller machines built from the beginning of 2002 to 2011, a ten year period, so I could learn about putting together multiple processors. The first multi-brain was made from several Parallax Stamps placed into a humanoid robot built from Parallax Toddler robot parts. The Big Brain's official first post was on August 5th, 2010. The Big Brain uses Propeller chips. Out of respect to its heritage and to remain compatible with ten years of development, a BASIC stamp is designed into its Brain Stem. In building humanoid robots, they were consistently lacking in two things - a long lasting battery and a powerful brain. I wasn't interested in working with battery chemicals so I chose to develop a brain. The brain began by many suggestions from Parallax Forum members. The Brain has many supporting projects posted in the Brain thread. The most recent is a Brain Wave Monitor that can see and hear the thinking of Propeller chips. The Brain led to offspring, several smaller brains, even including a controversial two prop brain in a jar that won Parallax's Project of the week. The one year mark is time to reflect on where the Brain was, is now, and where it's going. It's not over yet. The journey has only just begun. It's more about the journey than the destination - the path we choose, the things we learn and develop along the way and the new friends we make. Stay tuned. I will continue trying new and unusual things, pacing the Big Brain, making some small discoveries, and growing the artistic, creative edge. Astronomers, both amateurs and professionals call it aperture fever. It takes only one time of looking through a telescope to come down with a fever of wanting larger telescopes to see more and more. No longer is the Universe Penetrator (UP) the only device that can increase and amplify telescope resolution and apparent size (by 10X). The Accumulator has brought about enhancements of 100X and 1000X on top of the UP's capabilities. Along with the UP, this converts to 1000X and 10,000X. This is not an empty magnification reference at all, but rather references resolutions that determine functional aperture of the Telescope. It puts the telescope aperture into the range (from 24 meters) of 1.5, 15, and 150 miles wide. The accumulator also increase the clarity and field penetration yielding new powerful data about places in space and time.

Past Blast Brain Cube

Past Blast time travels to a decade ago, way back in the year 2002 when work was underway to create a different kind of big brain with great processing power. The Brain Cube of yesteryear paved the way to the Big Brain of today.

The BRAIN-CUBE functions in n-dimensions for the greatest humanoid processing power

Parts are now garnered for the first five levels in the matrices of the BrainCube. Initial matrice coupling has been accomplished with wire interfacing, but soon to be replaced with homebuilt and designed optoelectronic phase couplers and newly built free space transportation devices - this will eliminate wires, compress the size down to a more microscopic level, and allow the introduction of light waves and lenses to replace electronic components, a plus in terms of high speed particle functioning and component elimination and reduction. 

As N dimensions are added to the modulus, the mathematics of the dynamics seem to grow exponentially. I have added a project phase to further develop N dimension mathematics, as needed. It is likely the power of N dimensional computing will initially exceed the humanoid walking parameters, but will assist in more complex functions such as vision recognition algorithms and AI retentive capabilities.

Stacking Up
How does this stack up against today's Big Brain? Favorably. The Big Brain has 100+ dimensions and fits the expansive "n" computers model nicely. The Big Brain has 100,000+ processors, ten times larger than the Matrix Brain. It's multi arrayed and paralleled, not necessarily cubed though it can be, and the processors are mix varied between Propeller cores, Propeller VPs, GPUs and not optical.
