Supertronic Big Brain Takes Off
A New Supertronic Big Brain Takes Off!
Embolden by design, the new Supertronic Big Brain intelligent machine takes off to a new level. Enhanced processors, and increased number of chip processors are distinguishing features. Designed in the SUPERTRONIC era, this new type of brain, shown above, is a modified Spin Brain taken to a new level. The design increases brain processor ratio, decreased weight, and greater computing density.

Transition to Supertronic Brains
SUPERTRONIC BRAIN TRANSITIONING
Humanoido's Supertronic Brain Invention is the transition threshold from the Big Brain to the new Supertronic Big Brain.
THE NEXT GENERATION IS HERE! The SuperTronic takes the previous enhancements of the 32-Bit Parallax Propeller chip to the next level, incorporating more chip internal hard processors, new definitions of relative operating speed, various levels and types of processors, and a multi-chip hybrid deterministic parallel and hyper threaded environment and platform.
Principally the greatest advantage is more computing processors in a single chip. This yields a greater chip to processor ratio for a single brain. Furthermore it can help reduce brain size to fit inside a humanoid robot head.

Propeller 2
PROPELLER 2
Parallax prepares to introduce the new Propeller 2 chip to supplement the very successful Propeller 1 chip.
Specs here:
http://www.parallaxsemiconductor.com/Products/propeller2specs
Factoid #1
It's interesting to note, if the Big Brain used Propeller 2 chips instead of Propeller 1 chips, instead of having 100,000 V processors, the number would rise to one million.
Factoid #2
The speed, at 1600 MIPs per chip, would run at standard clock speed of 160,000 MIPs per hundred chips comparing to clock enhanced 20,000 MIPs with Propeller 1.
Factoid #3
It is not know if Supertronic enhancements will apply to the architecture of the Propeller 2 chip. If they do apply, the speed could increase to around 2 million MIPs per 100 quantity which pushes it closer to supercomputing status. (2,000,000,000,000 instructions per second)

Upgrading the Big Brain Supercomputer
UPGRADING THE BIG BRAIN SUPERCOMPUTER
Plans are moving forward to upgrade the Lab's Big Brain Supercomputer, either doubling the power of its speed or making twin supercomputers.
A single supercomputer is desirable to take advantage of the supercomputer's Propeller section that handles 3,200 controlling ports. The Big Brain was reported to have reached supercomputer status on April 5th of 2012 and was reclassified during July 2012. On August of 2012, it was competitive on the Top 500. In September 2012, the supercomputer received Level I and Level II enhancements and went SuperTronic. Since that time, numerous top world supercomputers were added to the list and bumped the Big Brain to a lower position. Plans are in the works to double the GPUs in the supercomputer, add a second junction terminal, double or quadruple memory, add resources and create either twin supercomputers or one supercomputer with a doubling of it's speed, and bumping it upwards on the 500 list.

THE RISING GIANT "BLUE MOON" event this week ushered in a new extremely powerful SuperTronic Brain. The SuperTronic Brain Machine is a living entity with 12,384 total computer processors on one board. It's designed for new applications that most likely no one has thought about.
INTRODUCTION
The SuperTronic is physically smaller than the Big Brain, residing its power all on one board, with programming in Propeller Assembly and SPIN. C or C++ (with Parallax Propeller GCC) is an option as are many other languages (up to 240 programming languages, see the link below). GCC runs faster than Spin and exceeds the per chip 32K memory limit size by using the Large Memory Module LMM and Extended Memory Module (XMM). This opens up Float and the new machine also runs the new DISP language made up of DAs or Distributed Algorithms. As a parallel microcontroller machine, it can operate up to 384 ports simultaneously in either input or output modes and can be tri-stated for special applications.
OVERVIEW
The battery operated portable brain has access to distributed 768K RAM/ROM and 384K EEPROM. Relative speed of the SuperTronic is a blazing 32,640 MIPS or about 33 billion instructions per second. Including four different types of processors in high densities, the brain can offer solutions for a neural injection distribution platform.

APPLICATIONS
One aspect of this powerful brain would include functioning as the work horse in a private space program. It fits telemetry, data processing and number crunching, and has access to autonomous guidance routines and optical management.
SOFTWARE
In House Lab Software tailored for this one board solution is tentatively expected to include the Propeller Brain RTOS Real Time Operating System (The SOS is a SuperTronic Operating System.), a Multi-Chip Parallel Loader, a Processor Enhancer, Multiple Threader, Timing Manager, Enumerator, and details about the Cloner. Additional software is found at the Parallax OBEX.
MANUAL & STACKING
The machine assembly manual will use a verbal (word) schematic so construction is ultimately simple. Stacking is possible. With ten boards, the processor count equals 123,840 and the speed rises to 326,400 MIPS, though power increases based on operating mode.
CONSTRUCTION
Construction as seen in the photo shows the first prototype (working) assembled on a solderless breadboard with the first test wiring. At right is a Prop Plug ready for downloading software. This config has an accurate crystal controlled time base and a 32K EEPROM to store programs. Also visible is the electrolytic filter and 10nf decoupler capacitors. The prototype shown has two extra temporary driver chips which will be removed after testing.
PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES
Recommended programming languages include Propeller Assembly and SPIN. The Propeller chip has access to approximately 232 programming languages, versions & variations along with five programming language converters and methods, for almost any kind of experimenting and academic persuit. Smartest BoeBot
Boebot is an excellent robot platform for doing experiments. In this tethered experiment, the intelligence of BoeBot is massively increased.
Forty prop chips, providing 320 tiny RISC computers, are added to BoeBot along with the BASIC Stamp Board of Education using twenty Propeller Proto Boards in a high rising skyscraper stack. Available ports now exceed 1,280 and computational speed tops out above a blazing 6,400 MIPS. The balance point is shifted slightly towards the front of BoeBot to increase stability during motion. Motions are typically slowed to stabilize the platform during travel as Smartest BoeBot carries around his big new brain.

It moves along just fine. If you have seen the space shuttle being moved
with a special transport to the gantry, it sort of resembles the
Smartest BoeBot. It looks top heavy, as
does the Space Shuttle, however it's well balanced, and it moves along
slow and perfectly fine on a smooth level surface. From what I can see,
the servos work just fine at the slower speed (move slow, start slow,
stop slow, and use ramping). A bonus is the added traction to the rubber
wheels. I use the standard battery pack and for extended life, use the
optional add on battery. For the brain, of course a tether must be used to supply power from an external source. Here the power depends on the clock mode selected.
Details
The project robot has 321 processors in parallel and 1,296 controller ports. There's two Props per board and 20 boards. Boards are PPPBs, Parallax Propeller Proto Boards. The bottom board is the motion control board BOE which uses a BS2 and PBASIC language. The boards above have Propeller processors with SPIN programming.
Arising AI Machine Intelligence
AI self awareness and machine intelligence is a topic that comes up frequently as you can see we
are constantly moving closer to achieving this. It's not that far away.
But it does appear that the machine brain will think differently than the human brain
to achieve the same goals. I think great minds can appreciate the self
aware concept and welcome it. We are still approaching the full
utilization of parallel computing techniques with multi processor chips
and multi chip boards, though progress is being made even at the hobby
level
Updates - No Stacking? Introducing the SuperTronic BoeBot!
Since the creation of the above mentioned Smartest BoeBot robot machine, the Big Brain Propeller project has reached a level of semi cognizance and heralded in the new invention of the SuperTronic machine. The Propeller SuperTronic technique allows the creation of faster machines with more processors and fewer chips. Therefore, the results of these studies and experiments can now be applied to a new "Smartest BoeBot" with more capability. Also, since the time of the original "Smartest BoeBot," new inventive software was created for parallel Propeller machines, and this can also add features to a new Smartest Boebot.
The SuperTronic BoeBot has fewer chips but more processors, and has different intelligence compared to the previous Smartest BoeBot.
The preliminary design is a bigger newer smarter Smartest Boebot in the works using a new concept that does not use stacking. Twenty boards are arranged according to an exoskeleton and placed on top of the new Boebot robot platform along with a BS2 board for various compatibilities. Exoskeleton boards face the outside where wiring is easily reached. This arrangement is great for creating various wiring and rewiring for changing experiments. Advantages here are easy access to the wiring on the outside and all the extra space is usable on the inside of the hollow exo. Now for some numbers, which are all relative of course. The plateau reached is a completely new 54,400 MIPS design for the exo with 21 boards, which allows it to hold a standard cache of 20 Propeller chips, 160 cogs, and approximately 20,640 total processors using techniques of the Big Brain SuperTronic Era (not counting any BASIC Stamps used in the BoeBot design).
SuperTronic BoeBot Specifications
20 x 0001 = 20 Parallax 32-Bit 8-Core Propeller chips
20 x 2720 = 54,400 MIPS Relative Speed
20 x 1032 = 20,640 Total Computer Processors
20 x 1000 = 20,000 VIP processors, Threaded+Deterministic Parallel
20 x 0016 = 320 Counter Processors
20 x 0008 = 160 Cogs (RISC Processors)
20 x 0008 = 160 Generator Processors
20 x 0032 = 640 Ports
20 x 064K = 1,280K RAM/ROM
Platform: Parallax BoeBot Robot
Interface: Parallel Processing
Projected Software: Loader, Learner, Roamer, Seeker, Avoider, Talker
Functions: Explores randomly, seeks light, avoids light, talks, learns, remembers, total recall
About the Exo
The Exo can have four sides, but usually a slot or two is open on one side to reach into the center for mounting of other components and expansions. Boards connect with simple nuts, bolts and angle iron. Use nylon bolts, nuts, and phenolic washers to reduce weight. Finished wiring can have a Seran type plastic wrap to ensure wires do not disconnect or dislodge. The Exo is not heavier or lighter than a Stack. The Exo advantages of easy access are great and it opens up center line space for upgrades and peripherals. At the base of this space, more batteries could ensure the elimination of the tether and make the new Smartest BoeBot more autonomous.
