Exploring Space

EXPLORING SPACE
The chart illustrates how the Big Brain Machine and Humanoido Laboratories conduct their own space program. Various levels of space are defined according to their exploration programs and space definitions.

Humanoid robots are adaptable to space
The Big Brain machine has a manned space program and has launched humans into Next and Near Space approximately 40 times.

There is always a risk associated with manned space flight and as the distance from Earth increases, so does the risk.

The robust Micro Space program is relatively safe and used for academic purposes, having launched insects and various instruments into space.

Solar panels can power a tiny outpost in space
Solar System Space and Ultra Space is currently safely explored with the array of very powerful telescopes and Monster Machines.

This includes the newest M3T, IT, ET and OT space omnipresence telescopes that are able to exist in multiple places at the same time.

For example, the large Big Brain supercomputer that controls these telescopes remains on Earth at the Deep Space Center and at the Ultra Space Administration while the space parts and components are at numerous locations in space, called Adjuncts.

Brain in a Jar technology could keep the space station operating autonomously and evolve to various applications.

Our space program is interested in developing a micro space shuttle and a micro outpost in space. This is an ongoing project that began decades ago.

We've periodically blogged these ideas and worked on evolving the designs. Many of the designs developed, i.e. space telescope, could be integrated into the program. This would take exploration into Solar System Space and create orbital flights. We are reaching the crossroads in space exploration and foresee a new technology breakthrough.

Conjecturing, we wonder if the next step into space for man will be represented by the human being transformed into a space faring humanoid avatar.

Our solar system space program could be conducted with space stations, shuttles and other space equipment designed for humanoid robots which won't need to breathe air, eat bulky food, drink water, or create waste products as we know it. They will also have a greater range of thermal operations.

Brain Cortex Capacity Part 34

The capacity of a brain increases with the number of processors which is related to the number of chips. When the chip density approaches 100 chips, the capacity for processors increases to 100,000 times more and beyond. INTELLIGENCE is a multiple subset of this processor relationship. This is related to neural capacity. It's expected that jar density will greatly increase with the use of specially designed boards. Large jars are currently waiting as cortex confinement vessels for extremely large brains currently up on the designing board. In this photo, an experimental 100+ chip big brain is running several connection machine experiments. This shows two design integrations, one in the back is an exoskeleton where the boards and components and wiring are on the outside, and second, high density boards in the front can hold over 192 RISC processors per board. Chips are Parallax Propeller.
BRAIN CORTEX CAPACITY
PART 34
Build a brain cortex with one chip or with one hundred chips. The neural capacity does not multiply 100 times for 100 chips. Neural capacity is multiplied 100,000 times. Imagine the power of a cortex 100,000 times more powerful than the current designed brain cortex in a jar.

Would it fit in a jar? Only if the jar is a big one! How big? Currently the lab has a big 5-liter jar. After some tests and redesigns, a new high density cortex will be placed inside but this is a future project.

The cortex is a different kind of machine animal with purposes entirely different from the Big Brain. Though technology from the Big Brain has made the Cortex possible, its purpose is very unique, i.e. both transferring a part of a human brain into the machine jar and increasing the jar's counterpart life span towards a state of immortality.

The base capacity of cortex intelligence "I" is based on a fundamental eight RISC processors. So doubling the "intelligence" of the cortex requires sixteen RISCs and the expansion is:

 Intelligence = 8n1 + 8n2 + 8n3 + ... where n is a factor multiple of 8. So the cortex can have an intelligence increase by adding cores. A chip has eight RISCs so three chips will have 24 or three times the intelligence.

Since limitations at the upper end allotment for configurations are currently allowed at 800 processors, the expanded cortex can have up to 100 times the intelligence level of the first cortex.

Machine cortex intelligence is based on DNA or birthing knowledge, the size of long term and short term memory, conversation capability, thinking, asking questions and the ability to continually learn new things.

ABOUT THE MACHINE CORTEX BRAIN PROJECT
This project objective is to develop a cortex machine brain, demonstrate a human-to-machine brain transfer, in particular to take some relatively simple characteristics of a human brain and transfer portions to the machine brain, whereby human traits could be given a greater life longevity, leading towards immortality.

Inverted Exoskeleton

INVERTED EXOSKELETON INVENTION
Turn your machine skin inside out!!!

This documents the new invention of the Inverted Exoskeleton. Prior to this, the Big Brain employed two styles of machine hardware design, a stacked tower of boards and the Exo or Exoskeleton.


POSITIVE EXO 
The EXO is positive in nature, and has boards or component skin on the peripheral outside where wiring takes place.

TOWER
The Tower has boards stacked one of top of another. This approach is expanding linear. Wiring takes place on the top of each board.

NEGATIVE EXO
The Big Brain Project has invented the Negative Inverted Exoskeleton. The NIE has wiring and components inside the EXO configuration. It's the same as turning an Exoskeleton skin inside out.


COMPONENT PROTECTION 
The NIE is a revelation in Big Braining technology. For the first time, the inverted electronic skin will protect components using the outside, or previous underside, of the board.

DURABILITY
The board also acts as its own support, connect together at the edges with simple low cost hardware. The config is idea for more rough handling, mobility, transport and even going into space. With inertial rocket effects on the NIE payload, the wires will press against the boards which act as a supporting bed in specific conditions and orientations.

COMPONENT PLACEMENT
The NIE places components on the inside, making better use of space and footprint. The ideal NIE config places the solderless breadboard at the opening side for easy wiring access. One challenge faced by the deployment of the NIE is the serial or USB connector orientations and resultant cabling positioning. 90-degree internalized mounting of boards restrict access to connectors which were mounted along board edges.

QUADLYZER CONSIDERATIONS
A new QuadLyzer is being examined with the possibility of a new Negative Inverted Exoskeleton design. However, Parallax has a universal design of placing the connector at the board's edge. This is blocked with the NIE design. One option is a turn-out board design which increases design complexity. For now, the best design for the QuadLyzer is a positive Exoskeleton to maintain easy access to cabling and serial connectors.

Big Propeller Retro Supercomputer
The RX Propeller Super computer is made from all Parallax Propeller chips. It exceeds one-C of chips, including twenty Parallax Propeller Proto Boards and several large chip-filled high density solderless breadboards reconfigurable for various experiments.

The purpose of the RX is experimenting, supercomputer distributed parallel algorithm development, and having fun bringing back nostalgia from yesteryear's super computing machines! Of course, the R in RX stands for Retro.
 

History
It's how you look at it. The left side added to the right side of the Big Brain Machine equals a modern 2011/2012 super computer with TFLOPS processing power, according to the Top 500 list of supercomputers. But what happens when the left side is detached from the right side? What new things can arise from this configuration?

Retro Supercomputing
Now take the left side only into consideration. It accurately represents a Retro Supercomputer with approximately 1990s supercomputing power.

Functions
The left side is also a powerful controller to the outside world with its excess of 3,200 controlling input output ports and it has vital functions for retro and nostalgic supercomputing experimentation. It's ideally suited for development of distributed parallel programming techniques for various supercomputers.

Specifications
The best way to review some of these specs is to consult the specifications page, keeping in mind what applies to only the left brain. This, in a nutshell, includes all functions developed for solderless breadboards and the EXO.

EXO & Breadboards
The EXO is the previously detached Exoskeleton, a kind of obverse tower where the components are on the outside. Seen in the photo, the left brain combines the breadboards and the EXO.

Speed
At 160 MIPS per chip, the first 100 chips push theoretical speed to 16,000 MIPS or 16 Billion Instructions Per Second (or approximated as 16 GIPS). The RS is integer based so you'll need to convert standards when comparing to other machines. GFLOPs speed is as fast as a 1990s supercomputer (see link).

    Air Travel Chain Effect

    AIR TRAVEL CHAIN EFFECT - Stay Safe & Protect Electronics
    EVA Airline Technicians inspect wheels and tires before departure. EVA Air is viewed by many as one of the safest and most convenient ways to travel. In a hot climate, aircraft air conditioning is extremely important as well as careful luggage handling and safe flight history.


    A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. How to stay safe and protect electronics during air travel.

    Big Brain EXOskeleton As shown in the photo below, the Big Brain Exoskeleton incurred damage during the recent shipment out of China, even though it was carefully wrapped in surrounding blankets. It's always a little confusing - are you on China Air or Air China? The metal brass spacer holding the LCD broke off at the thread position (see top right). The nut with the broken threads is seen just above the top left corner of the white solderless breadboard. Normally such precarious position on the EXO would have a remedy modification for strengthening the mount. However in this case, we like the EXO idea so much, it will be a simple matter to just replace the brass spacer. What's so desirable about the EXO design? Even though mounting wires and components on the outside of the Big Brain machine can compromise its function during rough handling, the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. The ease and convenience of wiring, rewiring, examination, inspection, modifications, and upgrades are super easy. Lighting is also at a premium and photographing the layout is easy. For future shipping, remove the LCDs.

    Parallax Penguin Robot
    Penguin robots are very strong and sturdy, built with nylon and machined metal. However, Chinese luggage handlers maintain their reputation to be stronger. It's estimated this luggage was dropped from a height of 12 feet. The majority of the shipped assembled penguins broke at the legs linkage connecting to the servo. Most had the white nylon servo linkage (servo horn) that connects the legs linkage to NARO servo broken. This appears to be the weakest link in the Penguin robot chain. For future shipping, remove the servo horns.

    The weakest link in the Toddler robot chain is the underside stride linkage. For future shipping, remove the stride servo horn.

    Solderless Breadboards
    Nylon polymer solderless breadboards, which were wired with Parallax Propeller chips, completely survived the rough handling. They were wrapped in towels. A photographic schematic was first created and interconnecting wires were removed. These boards easily stack during shipping.

    HOW WAS IT ACCOMPLISHED?
    Today the Big Propeller Brain successfully completed its final round journey of air travel for the Consolidation Program to reassemble in one location, thereby bringing all modules together for a more powerful living machine.

    Your Worst Nightmare? But how do you take the beast from the cradle and pass it through the ultimately tough and sometimes ruthless regime of Airport Security? Just look at one scenario - armed guards with machines guns, vicious attack and "something sniffing" police dogs, impatient wild card people in menacing uniforms making unreasonable judgements with authority to make you bend over backwards, laws not necessarily beneficial to your luggage or the value of your personal effects, and damaging XRAY Radiation machines harmfully accumulative to health. What madness! Even babies can be indited, flight banned and ear tagged as terrorists in a system that readily and easily makes horrendous mistakes that make you the brunt of the consequences.

    Wearing white gloves, they reach for ultimate unspoken levels of frisking your body in private places, meanwhile you endure the ultimately high levels of stress that's generated in going through these nightmare check points. In fact, they poke, prod, upset your luggage, go through your underwear, confiscate what they want, and upset you. They invade your privacy, take your photos, make your personal information available, and even take your temperature! They own you and all your personal property and they know there's no timely expeditious alternative to air flight. Your stuck.

    To  make matters worse, trying to take something unusual out of or through a Communist Nation can make matters prohibitively complicated and harrowing. Will you be brought up on charges and serve out your life's remainder in confinement waiting for the rope? New Propeller technology, hundreds of processors, thousands of wires, towering electronic microprocessor boards - stuff that looks like a giant big blue bomb, and literally everything that may not be allowed out of the country will make you sweat bullets! It becomes your worst nightmare.

    Air Travel
    Air travel is always a concern. Imagine, if you will, the Big Brain with hundreds of processor chips and wire bundles and it's easily to dream up the shape of something not allowed on planes, not to mention the startling image of what appears on the Airport Security luggage Xray machine!

    Previously
    Last time we shipped the flat Arrays, fully populated solderless breadboards with a massive number of Parallax Propeller chips installed. This core of the Big Brain was challenged by Airport Security and was ported to a special luggage area for inspection and additional Xrays. It took only one word to go through.     New Low Weight Requirements
    This time it went smoother than the last time. No questions asked. No special porting over for additional exams. The only confrontation was the overweight situation created by the luggage. New international regulations stipulate no more than 23kg for check through luggage. Considering the added weight of the actual empty luggage, which must be the strong sturdy rigid style to avoid side depressions during handling, it does not leave much weight allowance for the Big Brain, components and its massive power supply.

    What went through
    This time the Big Brain's EXO and massive power supply was shipped to the Main Lab. The EXO is a towering Exoskeleton with the components mounted on the outside of the structure. This facilitates rapid wiring and changes, and it offers an easy to see working environment. The down side is the wires are exposed on the outside and can easily tear off.

    Brain Parts Scattered Across the Universe?
    Brain parts were also shipped but not through air travel during the flight due to luggage quantity restrictions. A courier was hired to ship six boxes of parts and components by air freight. Also included were supporting projects, lab equipment, vessels, documentation and peripherals.

    Prepping the Brain for Travel
    The luggage was first prepared as a bed to hold the EXO. A carpet with rubber backing was placed to line the luggage interior. Fabric was then used to cushion and support the brain on all sides. The fabric, soft cotton material, is capable of compression and absorbing impact without damaging the Brain. It's a good idea to put the heavy weight power supply into matching luggage, locating it at the two luggage La Grange points - this is in the range of the opposite side of each handle. Typically luggage will have one handle at the top and one at the side.

    It's Only a Matter of Money
    Get out your green stuff, or red matter if you're in China. As they say, it's only a matter of money - you simply supply the airline attendant with the appropriate bargained sum of money and away you go, no further business required.

    If you're really fat (lots of overweight luggage) or a Frequent Fat Flyer FFF (fly often with overweight luggage) you may even get a discount.

    Consolidation Program
    We're really happy the final components of the Big Brain arrived safely at the new laboratory and in the next several months a project will be initiated to reconnect and rewire the Big Brain in a new, even more powerful, configuration with the Consolidation Program.

    Definitions
    Consolidation Program - a project to bring together all Big Brain components, parts, modules, assemblies, and offspring in one place, and to reassemble with the goal of a more powerful and readily accessed unit.

    Aliens Exist

    Proof Aliens exist
    and have their own street
    FOR DECADES PROJECT SETI SEARCHED THE SKIES FOR ALIEN LIFE and what did they find? All they had to do was look here in Beijing China where intelligent Aliens are living and have their own street. Aliens are very smart because they located their street across from the YouTown Shopping Mall which has food courts, hamburgers, toys, clothes, ice cream, and its all next to a Burger King! Of course! Traveling some distance away, one finds the home of the Big Brain - actually, a part of the disembodied brain known as the EXO. This Exoskeleton portion, which has wiring that exists on the outside of the towering structure, holds 160 computers and represents the upper one fourth portion of the Quad hemisphere brain architecture. The EXO will be relocated in a massive brain project to consolidate all portions of the Big Brain and to make more powerful connections for new purposes in the future. I doubt we'll need permission from the Aliens to move the Big Brain but all bets are on that some of them are going to be a little miffed! How are they going to run the space time trajectories to get back home? You never know the value of something until you don't have it.

    Disembodied Brain Goes Airborne

    EXO BRAIN DISEMBODIED WILL GO AIRBORNE
    It will take at least two weeks and a trip to China to retrieve the disembodied EXO portion of the Big Brain. It will then travel by jet aircraft, personally monitored, in disassembled pieces to it's new location.

    This is part of a new program to fully assemble the disembodied brain in one location, to readily facilitate the next move in an effort to make the Big Brain more portable and easier to move, and create new built-in characteristics of mobility.

    There's an increasing demand of the Big Brain for processing power and control, and in an effort to increase the magnitude of the Big Brain, all its components will need to function in one place of space time. Most remaining labs will remain open for R&D. Consolidation will be a future topic. The Big Brain has moved seven times and is an international project.

    The BIG Brain is currently functioning without the EXO, by using its Right Brain and Left Brain sections which contain enhanced Propeller chip Arrays and AMD streaming processors. This currently leaves enough remaining brain power to run the new NULT 945-inch Telescope and the new Universe Penetrator.

    The Big Brain EXO is made from 100% Parallax processors. The isolated EXO Brain section currently has a total of 21,000 enhanced Propeller VP processors, 168 Propeller Cog processors, and several host processors. Predominantly Propeller chip driven, it owes the majority of its processing and controlling power to enhanced Parallax Propeller chips.
